Sometimes life just shifts into another gear and you find yourself in a whirlwind of activity and demands.
The temptation when you get into these kinds of seasons is to drop some things that are essential for keeping you afloat.
Here’s a well known quote from the Lord of Life himself, Jesus.
“The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
About 17 years ago in 2004, I was in a serious health crisis. I had trigeminal neuralgia (aka “the suicide disease”) and was on the couch in terrible pain for about a year and a half. I had brain surgery, facial paralysis due to complications of that surgery, and a host of other issues with my eyes, ear and mouth.
If we want to live an abundant life, we need to learn to abide in Christ. The first part of the Great Commandment is about loving God first and foremost with our whole being.
Jesus said, “…I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10(b) NASB
What does it mean to be fruitful? “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
I knew it was success in the eyes of God not man.
In recent years I’ve been learning a great deal about the importance of attachment. Attachment in the Scriptures is called “hesed” or “chesed” in Hebrew.
It takes me a whole day sometimes more to just quiet myself after the craziness of packing and getting out of town.
“Don’t go looking for impact, rather seek to abide in Christ, and impact will come looking for you.”
