5 to Thrive

Jesus said, “…I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”  John 10:10(b) NASB

A second century saint name Irenaeus said, “The Glory of God is man fully alive.”

I believe that these words are all true! But what does it take for us to really have that abundant life, to be fully alive?

In recent weeks I’ve been writing about abiding in Christ as the centerpiece of everything, the key to fruitfulness and success. It has to be the first and foremost things in our lives if we ever want to truly thrive.

In recent years my husband and I have been learning a lot about what it really takes to thrive not only as a Christian and but as a human being on this messed up planet we call earth. No easy task!

We’ve learned about this through studying theology, sound psychology and brain science. What it takes to thrive as a human being, after putting God first in everything, boils down in to 5 things: 1.) A place to belong, 2.) To both give and receive life, 3.) The capacity to recover from malfunctions (emotional health), 4.) Maturation and 5.) Staying true to our hearts, our authentic identities.

I’d like to offer you this video of a message we gave to a group of leaders in Texas this summer. My husband Michael gave the main teaching and I gave a testimony toward the end. This will give you a taste of some of the important things we’ve been learning, things that have changed our lives and the way we lead our church.

This video is from the Antioch church website, so all you’ll need to do to watch it is: go to https://antiochwaco.com/uscon/ then click on the Session 1 video. Fast forward to 1:44:16 and push play. It’s about 50 minutes long so when you have some time, grab a cup of coffee or whatever you like, relax, sit back and enjoy!

Blessings,

Terri
