Honoring Mom Today
As I write this today my Mama has just chosen to do hospice. She is at the end of her race and is at peace and ready to go be with the Lord. We don’t know the day and time of her home-going but He does.

This photo was taken Friday evening in Punta Gorda, Florida. Michael and I haven’t had a vacation yet this year so we are taking it now. It felt so good to get off the plane here Friday wearing my snow boots and winter coat, then slip into flip flops and short sleeves!
You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Seeing is believing.” It usually means NOT believing anything you can’t physically see, right?
There are so many distractions and stressors in the world we live in and also the holidays provide their own kinds of distractions and stresses! You might not necessarily think that being childlike would have much to do with these, but it truly does.
Do you feel confident about hearing God’s voice? Would you like to grow in that area?
There is always a long season of waiting that precedes a “suddenly” like this. There are lots of things happening before a ‘suddenly’ that have been underway for a long time.
Sometimes life just shifts into another gear and you find yourself in a whirlwind of activity and demands.
The temptation when you get into these kinds of seasons is to drop some things that are essential for keeping you afloat.
Here’s a well known quote from the Lord of Life himself, Jesus.
“The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
About 17 years ago in 2004, I was in a serious health crisis. I had trigeminal neuralgia (aka “the suicide disease”) and was on the couch in terrible pain for about a year and a half. I had brain surgery, facial paralysis due to complications of that surgery, and a host of other issues with my eyes, ear and mouth.
If we want to live an abundant life, we need to learn to abide in Christ. The first part of the Great Commandment is about loving God first and foremost with our whole being.
