Dear friend,
This week a very dear friend of mine experienced the faithfulness of God shown by answered prayers. Not just a few days or weeks of prayers but years of prayers.
Sometimes it seems like we pray and pray but those answers to prayers seem not to come.
But when they do come, it’s like a fountain of life showering down on us, washing away weariness and disappointment!
His timing seems off to us sometimes, we don’t understand why the answers seem to delay.
God is like the unchanging, stable, immovable mountains that we can count on. He knows everything from beginning to end. He is wise, and most of all He is full of love. He knows if, when and how prayers will be answered. We just need to trust Him.
Even if prayers aren’t answered in this life, it doesn’t mean He isn’t trustworthy. This is a mystery we will never figure out. But we can trust Him in the mystery, because He is good!
Mountains reach high as if to beckon heaven to come and touch earth. The verse in the photo above speaks to that.
God has always interacted with people on mountains. Moses received the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. Jesus ascended to heaven from the Mount of Olives, inaugurating the New Covenant. He will return to that same mountain. The Holy Spirit was poured out from Mount Zion.
There are other kinds of mountains in our lives that represent situations we desperately want to change. They seem immovable, stubborn, menacing. They cause us to cry out to God for help in our distress.
“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the seas,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.” Mark 11:23 NASB
That kind of desperation is a gift. It’s what causes us to be dependent on God and to call out to Him for help. We can put ALL of our hope in Him, the only source of hope that does not disappoint.
“Return to the stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.” Zechariah 9:12 NKJV
When we look to God as our Mountain, our stronghold, and become prisoners of hope in Him alone, there is a double blessing promised!
If we don’t stay in the prison of hope in God, we end up in some other kind of prison that causes us to settle for much less.
Don’t settle!
I’m praying for you today, that you will look to the Mountain where your help comes from and place ALL your hope in Him!
Much love,
Terri
