Celebrate Freedom!

Dear friends,

While you are celebrating our national freedom on July 4, I’d like to give you some food for thought about the author of freedom.

This holiday happens to commemorate the day we Americans won our freedom to self-govern. We were oppressed and when we won the war, we were free.

Consider this verse of scripture from John 8:32:

Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the the truth with set you free.”

Then in John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”

Jesus tells those who were questioning him that the time is coming when they will be set free. He is alluding to the fact that they will know who He really is – He is truth personified, He himself IS the truth, the author of all truth, hence the author of freedom!

So when we come to know Jesus, we are delivered from the oppression of sin. That’s something worth celebrating even more than Independence Day!

Once we know Him and He dwells within us, we are empowered to live according to the truth. We are empowered to self-govern by Christ in us, also known as “self-control”. It’s not about doing whatever we please!

If everyone had this kind of freedom the world we live in would be a very different place! With Christ in us as our GPS, we would navigate life according to the truth, according to love, with self-control and all the other character qualities of Jesus listed in Galatians 5:22,23.

As you celebrate this day, I just wanted to encourage you to celebrate the author of true freedom and give Him thanks today!

Then think about the difference you’d like to make in this world with the freedom you’ve been given by Him. How might you maximize the impact of your life for good in this free world we live in?

If you don’t know the author of truth and freedom, send me a message – I’d love to hear from you and share the treasure I’ve found.

Happy 4th of July💥!

Terri
