Knowledge expands, Wisdom simplifies

Dear friends,

I’ve been thinking a lot about wisdom lately.

Knowledge has increased exponentially in our world and will continue to do so in the days ahead. Is all this knowledge really making us wiser?

One day as I was doing some prayer journaling, this phrase came to me: “Knowledge expands, wisdom simplifies.”

Think about the saying, “It all boils down to ____.” In my mind, knowledge doesn’t boil things down to the most essential truths. Wisdom does.

Would you agree that there’s an overload of knowledge but a shortage of wisdom?

Consider this verse of Scripture: “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” Proverbs 4:7-9

Stay tuned for next week’s blog for more on this subject.

Warmly,

Terri
