Suffering Gracefully #6Remember Who You Are & Why You’re Here

Do you feel like you regularly need to remember once again who you are and why you’re here on planet earth?

In the animated movie, The Lion King, young Simba has been through a whole lot of hard times. He is confused and hurting, struggling to find meaning in his new life in exile, far away from home.

In a poignant moment, the wise old baboon Rafiki leads him to a lake where he sees his reflection. Suddenly he hears the voice of his deceased father and sees his dad’s reflection in place of his own.

His father Mufasa says to Simba, “You have forgotten who you are, and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life. Remember who you are…”

That scene always brings me to tears. Can you relate?

It’s when you know who you are and why you’re here that you begin to take your place in God’s kingdom on earth and to fulfill your calling. When life is hard, sometimes we easily forget this.

Maybe you feel like you’ve never really known. I’ve talked to many people who feel that way. You aren’t alone if this is you.

After I got through the worst of my health trials that began in 2004, when I could finally get up and around again, I needed help to remember who I was and why I was here after all I had been through. These hard times had changed me, everything from here on was a different life.

So, I got a coach!

Somehow I got an email from Dan Miller and ended up in a chat with him on his website. Next thing I knew, I had signed up to be coached by one of his coaches.

The coaching I did was in the context of a small group. We met weekly and went through Dan Miller’s book 48 Days to the Work You Love, did a personality test, a Personal Mission Statement, the Goal Setting worksheet and more.

I felt like liquid encouragement was being poured into my thirsty soul. I realized that I was still the same person with the same reason to be here on the planet, but now I had overcome some obstacles that would become opportunities for me to live out my calling in even better ways. (Romans 8:28 comes to mind!)

It was so life-giving that I knew I had to become a coach! So I did.

Since that time I’ve become certified as a coach and opened my coaching practice Fully Alive Coaching (now called Terri Sullivant Coaching), written a book, partnered with my husband Michael to start a new church and welcomed many new friends and family members to my life. All that energy was galvanized by God with the help of a coach.

Your calling is a treasure God placed in you that needs to be mined. It’s my joy to help you mine it, define it, and do it.

If you’d like someone to walk with you to help you remember who you are and why you’re here so you can fulfill your God-given calling, I’d love to do that with you.

Check out my website here and see if any of my coaching options, my course or my book would be helpful to you.

I’d love to help you discover, dream and do the life you were born to live so you can fulfill your God-given destiny.

Blessings,

Terri
