Happy Mother’s Day 2020

Happy Mother’s Day to all! Whether you have a mom or are a mom, or neither, this is a day to celebrate the way women care for the people they love.

Here’s a quote from my book The Divine Invitation about Mama Bears:

“Mother-love is nurturing, constant, life-giving, lifelong, fierce, tender, tough and unstoppable. It is the kind of love that comes from having been connected to your own child in your own body. It’s like the invisible, inseverable umbilical cord that endures for a lifetime after the physical cord is cut at birth.”

I raised 5 children and I know this kind of love from personal experience. I received this kind of love from my own Mom, pictured here with me in Ohio last fall.

I’m so grateful for her today!

Sometimes in the exhaustion of motherhood with all the endless tasks of caring for children, you wonder if it all matters. Will they appreciate you one day?

It certainly does matter! Here’s a quote from a famous preacher from years gone by, Charles Spurgeon:

“You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, and training them up in God’s fear, and minding the house, and making your household a church for God, as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts.”

Not all of us are mothers but it’s in our nature as women to be ‘mama bears’ – every woman has a baby of some kind.

Today is a day to say Thanks! to the women who have mothered you!

Thank you Mom for all the years you served me and all of our family, cooking, sewing, cleaning, driving us places, making lunches, listening to my troubles, affirming the good things you saw in me, teaching me the skills I would need to ‘do life’, speaking into my future.

I will always remember the when I was 8 or 9 years old, that you said, “Terri, I think you’re going to be an author one day.”

It took me a while to do it, but I did it and my book The Divine Invitation was born a couple years ago.

Now I’ve completed a course to go with the book! It will be available by the end of May.

I’ll be keeping you posted as the time for releasing it draws near.

I wrote this book for all of you moms, daughters, sisters, aunts, nieces, friends, teachers, mentors out there. You are all full of good things to give others – but you all need to continue to grow and be encouraged yourselves. That’s why I wrote the book.

If you haven’t read it you can get it here:

In The Divine Invitation Course: 10 Steps to Enter the Dance of Becoming Fully Alive, I will be with you personally each step of the way on video as you read  the book. I will even have some coaching to go along with the course if you would like that too.

More about that later.

Today I just want to give a special thanks to my mom, Georgia Bumgarner, who spoke to my heart all those years ago about becoming an author.

What we say to our children is powerful. With our words, we can set them on a course to fulfilling their destinies.

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day everyone!

Much love,

Terri
